BibleAndHomosexuality.gif (4817 bytes)

[Pittsburgh, PA, USA] In America, it is widely taught that hating Gays and Lesbians is perfectly acceptable behavior. Hate and loathing of Homosexuals is even preached directly from the pulpit of many churches in the United States, with horrific results. And now the time has come for all of that to end. Daniel Helminiak has published a book titled: What the Bible Really Says about Homosexuality. His work, along with the research of top scholars shows that those who perceive Bible passages as condemning homosexuality are being misled by faulty translation and poor interpretation. Daniel A. Helminiak, Ph.D., respected theologian and former Roman Catholic priest, explains in a clear fashion the fascinating new insights of these scholars.

Let us therefore no longer pass judgment on one another, but resolve instead never to put a stumbling block or hindrance in the way of another. I know and am persuaded in the Lord Jesus that nothing is unclean in itself; but it is unclean for anyone who thinks it unclean. Romans 14:13-14

When Spiritual Teaching
Turns Into Cultural
Theft ©
In this paper, Myke Johnson discusses the ethical questions raised by White peoples' exploration of the religious ceremonies and beliefs of American Indians. What is at work here which makes sincere spiritual searching an act of cultural theft? Why are Native peoples endangered by this interest in their beliefs and rituals? How can we respect the cultural integrity of Indian people, and yet also honor deep-felt spiritual desires?

"Race and Racism" and "Whiteness" pages
[Princeton, NJ, USA] Everyone's had their shot at defining "race." Theologians had their shot for hundreds of years. Then scientists took over in the nineteenth century. Social scientists have dominated  twentieth-century definitions of race, along with a few bold intellectual historians. I'm talking here about definitions that "stick," that have influence and real political effects. ...
Wishes in Black and White [Richmond Hill, NY, USA] The purpose of my creating this book is to contribute in any way possible to a united America. What is clear today is not the best possibility for America in the future. We have a Country that is torn by a mounting collection of misunderstandings. Racism Awareness  Program - Mennonite Central Committee U.S. The Racism Awareness Program (RAP) provides anti-racism training, education, resource development and consultation to the Mennonite and Brethren in Christ family of churches in the United States. Three basic understandings guide RAP's work:  1) Racism, defined as race prejudice plus access to institutional power, continues to actively oppress people of color throughout North America in both church and society. 2)The church and its institutions are mandated by the Gospel to engage in a ministry of reconciliation. The response to this mandate needs to be grounded in the belief that racial reconciliation does not come about without racial justice. 3) Due to the particular realities of systemic power and white-skin privileges, European-Americans in North America carry primary responsibility for the work of
dismantling racism. To maintain integrity for this work, white people need to be accountable to people of color. This site includes the video and study guide, "Free Indeed: Of White Privileges and How we Play the Game."
